On May 15, a delegation led by Wang Huai, Deputy Director of Suzhou Highway Development Center, visited the School of Statistics and Data Science at Southeast University for a research symposium under the theme of“Data Science and Artificial Intelligence + Transportation.”The two sides held in-depth discussions on interdisciplinaryintegration, frontiertechnology applications, and industry-university-research collaborative innovation.
During the meeting, Liu Zhiyuan, Secretary of the School’s Directly Affiliated Party Branch, introduced the School’s disciplinary strengths in big data, artificial intelligence, statistical modeling, and related fields. Deputy Director Wang Huai shared Suzhou Highway’s practical experience and development needs in its digital transformation. He noted that the Center hopes to take this visit as an opportunity to further deepen regular exchanges with the School, explore effective pathways for jointly building research platforms, cultivating interdisciplinary talent, and promoting data-enabled applications in highway scenarios, thereby supporting smarter and more refined highway management in Suzhou.
Data science and artificial intelligence are becoming key drivers of smart transportation. Universities and industry organizations have broad room for cooperation in technological research, talent cultivation, and the transformation of research outcomes. Moving forward, the two sides will focus on common key technological challenges, strengthen communication and collaboration, and promote deeper integration of industry, academia, research, and application, contributing expertise and solutions to the development of China’s strength in transportation.
