On January 6, 2026, the Innovation and Development Conference on Building Xuanwu District into an International Dynamic Central Urban Area was held in Room 416 of Xuanwu Central Building. Centered on the theme of accelerating the deep integration of scientific and technological innovation with industrial innovation, the conference brought together nearly 260 representatives from government, universities, enterprises, and related industries. Xinbing Kong, Associate Dean of the School of Statistics and Data Science at Southeast University, attended the event on behalf of the School and witnessed the official unveiling of the Student Innovation Practice Base jointly established by the School and Jiangsu International Data Port.
As an important platform for strengthening collaboration among universities, local government, and industry, the conference featured a full agenda covering industrial development, innovation-driven growth, and ecosystem improvement. A series of industrial action plans and talent policies were released, alongside major project signings and the presentation of awards to enterprises and innovation platforms, injecting fresh momentum into the development of the regional innovation ecosystem.
Among the highlights of the conference was the unveiling of the Student Innovation Practice Base jointly established by the School of Statistics and Data Science and Jiangsu International Data Port. This marks a concrete step in advancing collaborative education among the university, local government, and industry, and also reflects the School’s continued commitment to integrating education with industrial practice. By drawing on the industrial strengths of Jiangsu International Data Port together with the School’s disciplinary and talent advantages, the base will provide students with a high-quality practice platform and broader access to opportunities at the forefront of industry.
Looking ahead, students will have the opportunity to engage directly in real-world enterprise settings and participate in practical work involving data processing, analysis, and application. In this way, the base will help bridge the gap between classroom learning and industrial practice, enabling students to strengthen both their professional competence and overall capabilities through hands-on experience.
Taking this event as a new starting point, the School will further deepen cooperation with Jiangsu International Data Port and other leading enterprises in Xuanwu District. It will work to incorporate practice-base resources more fully into the entire talent cultivation process by introducing real industry projects and emerging industrial needs into the classroom, improving the curriculum system, expanding targeted internship opportunities, and establishing a more stable internship pipeline. Through these efforts, the School aims to nurture high-caliber interdisciplinary talent suited to the needs of the digital economy and to contribute to regional innovation and industrial upgrading.
